K9 Charlie: A Legacy Built on Heart and Duty
K9 Charlie began her career in service after being rescued through Bright Star German Shepherd Rescue. Paired with Sergeant First Class Dominic Visceglia, she completed rigorous training in both patrol and explosive detection—graduating from the Philadelphia K9 Academy and earning certification at the John Sonny Burke K9 Academy.
Over seven years of active duty, K9 Charlie made an impact across Glassboro and Gloucester County. Her assignments ranged from riot response and building searches to sweeping public venues for explosives. Known for her steady tracking ability, she assisted in numerous searches for missing persons and suspects alike.
Among her notable contributions was the successful detection of a firearm during a vehicle investigation—an effort that led to an arrest and earned her and her handler recognition as Officers of the Month.
K9 Charlie retired in December 2022, transitioning from public service to a life of rest and protection at home. She passed away surrounded by those who had stood beside her through every call and every shift.
Her legacy is marked by strength, devotion, and a working life defined by purpose. K9 Charlie will be remembered for the lives she touched and the quiet power she carried through every step of her service.
Her watch has ended—but her story will not be forgotten.
